Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit is all about getting the full picture. We begin with a comprehensive health history, digital spinal imaging (if needed), and detailed functional and postural analysis. We break our initial care up into two appointments, so the first visit is all about the exams and learning about you. The second visit is when the doctor shares the results of the exams. You'll receive a clear explanation of your condition, and if you're a candidate for care, we’ll present a personalized, programmatic care plan designed specifically for your needs and goals.
Do you accept insurance?
Rise Chiropractic does not participate in managed care networks and is considered an out-of-network, fee-for-service provider for all insurance plans. Our office can provide a superbill, or super receipt, that you can submit to your healthcare plan for direct patient reimbursement. This allows us to focus fully on personalized, quality care without limitations or restrictions set by insurance companies.
As is customary for professional services, payment is due at the time of service. Our doctor(s) are non-participating providers for Medicare at this time.
We do not accept medical payments or third-party auto claims. We are happy to help you on a self-pay basis and provide you with a receipt to submit to your own auto insurance carrier. Please note that we do accept FSA/HSA cards from all plans, as well as CareCredit.
Is chiropractic safe if I’ve had surgery?
Yes. Our approach is gentle, precise, and customized. Many patients come to us after spinal surgery and still find relief through our non-invasive therapies—including spinal decompression, laser, and soft tissue work. We always take your surgical history into account before designing any treatment plan.
What makes your approach different?
At Rise, we don’t just treat symptoms—we correct the root cause. We use advanced diagnostics, longer appointments, and a stacked, multi-modal approach combining spinal decompression, laser, TENS, chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, posture training, ergonomic guidance, and more. We spend more time with you, and your care evolves based on how you respond. That’s the Rise difference.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor at Rise?
No referral is necessary. Simply book online or call us at 858-788-7832 to schedule your first appointment.
Are Chiropractors Doctors?
Yes! Chiropractors are doctors who have completed specialized training in chiropractic care at an accredited institution. They must also pass state board exams before they can practice.
What should I wear to my appointment?
We recommend comfortable, flexible clothing like athletic wear or loose-fitting pants and a t-shirt. For treatments involving the knees, hips, or feet, shorts are best. We want you to be able to move freely during assessment and care.
What is the difference between decompression traction and multi-directional spinal decompression?
Multi-directional spinal decompression traction is a more advanced and targeted therapy than general decompression traction. While general traction can relieve pressure, multi-directional decompression creates negative pressure within the disc—pulling herniations back toward center and drawing in nutrients to promote healing. Our multi-directional decompression system allows us to customize this process with greater precision for disc injuries, sciatica, and neuropathy.
Am I a candidate for spinal decompression?
Many patients are! If you’ve been told you need back surgery—or you haven’t had success with physical therapy, injections, or conventional chiropractic—decompression might be right for you. Candidacy is determined through a full evaluation, including health history, digital imaging, and hands-on exam.
Is your care safe after back surgery?
Yes. Our non-surgical decompression and chiropractic care are safe for many post-surgical patients. We use gentle, precise techniques—we typically avoid forceful cracking or twisting—and we customize care based on your surgical history and current spinal condition.
Will I be adjusted at every visit?
You will receive some form of manual therapy at every visit. Our goal is to balance and mobilize the joints of your spine. We check both alignment and joint mobility at each visit and provide the appropriate care.
Can I “crack” or adjust myself?
No. While self-manipulation may bring temporary relief, it doesn’t correct the root dysfunction. Only a trained chiropractor can deliver a safe, controlled, and effective adjustment that leads to long-term improvement. Self-manipulation can lead to areas of hyper mobilization or degeneration without truly correcting the dysfunctional joints.
Why is the nervous system so important?
Your nervous system controls everything—movement, sensation, digestion, sleep, and more. When the spine is out of alignment, it can disrupt the messages between brain and body, leading to dysfunction and pain. Our care helps restore clear communication and unlock your body’s healing potential.
How long before I feel results?
Many patients feel relief within the first few visits. That said, healing depends on your condition, its chronicity, and your commitment to care. Most treatment plans last 6–12 weeks, and many patients opt for continued wellness care once they’re out of pain.
What causes me to lose the alignment of an adjustment?
Stress—physical, chemical, or emotional—is the most common cause. Car accidents, poor posture, lack of sleep, inflammatory foods, and emotional overload can all trigger misalignments. Our wellness plans include strategies to help your body adapt better to stress and hold alignment longer.
What’s different about care at Rise Chiropractic?
We offer premium, programmatic care built around your unique condition and goals. Our team uses advanced analytics, spinal decompression, laser therapy, soft tissue work, TENS, ergonomics, and more in combination—stacking therapies for faster, deeper results.
What is laser therapy?
Our Erchonia cold laser therapy uses targeted laser light to reduce inflammation, speed tissue healing, and support nerve regeneration. It’s non-invasive, FDA-cleared, and excellent for pain, neuropathy, joint injury, and disc conditions.
Do you offer wellness or maintenance care?
Yes! Once symptoms improve, we guide patients into customized wellness care plans that include posture correction, ergonomic training, stretching, and lifestyle support. This helps you stay pain-free, strong, and thriving long term.
